This law amended the Equal Pay Act of 2003, to: require equal pay for employees of the opposite sex performing the same or substantially similar work on jobs the performance of which requires substantially similar skill, effort, and responsibility; narrow the reasons employers can use to justify a pay difference; make it unlawful act for an employer to require an employee to sign a contract or waiver that would prohibit the employee from disclosing or discussing the employee’s wages or salary; prohibit an employer from obtaining the salary history of a prospective employee from that employee, or from a current or former employer.
