This law bans employment discrimination (including discipline, demotion, termination, or denial of a promotion) against survivors of domestic violence who take “reasonable” leave to seek or obtain a protective order or other legal relief. Regular leave policies and practices apply unless an emergency prevents a survivor from complying. Employers may request documentation of the reasons for leave.
