STATUS: Enacted

This law requires employers with 30 or more employees to include wage ranges and a description of benefits in job postings.

Minnesota’s 2024 Omnibus Labor and Industry Policy bill includes pay transparency provisions that will go into effect on January 1, 2025. The new law requires Minnesota employers with 30 or more employees to include the projected salary range or fixed pay rate for the position to be hired in each job posting. Postings must also include a general description of all benefits and other compensation that will be offered, including health and retiremenet benefits. The law defines salary range as the “good faith estimate” of the minimum and maximum annual salary or hourly wage range for the position. The law applies to interal or public written recruiting efforts made by the employer and through third parties. The state Attorney General and Department of Labor and Industry are responsible for enforcing the law, but penalties for violation are not specified.
