This law requires employers to provide leave to survivors of domestic violence for reasons associated with that status.

This law requires employers to provide “reasonable and necessary leave” to employees who are survivors, or family to a survivor, of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other acts reqiuiring a protective order. Reasons for leave may include to participate in court proceedings and seek support services. Employers may deny leave that is if the request was not made “within a reasonable time under the circumstances,” or if the “requested leave is impractical, unreasonable or unnecessary based on the facts then made known to the employer.
