STATUS: Failed

Would have prohibited employer pay secrecy rules that prohibit employees from discussing wages and extended the statute of limitations for wage discrimination claims.

The bill would have amended the Equal Pay Law of 1959, further providing for definitions, for wage rates and for collection of unpaid wages. It would have prohibited employers from retaliating against employees who participate in a wage discrimination claim, and would have prohibited employers from limiting employees’ ability to talk about their wages with other employees. The bill also would have set the statute of limitations for filing a wage discrimination claim at three years, in cases of willful discrimination.
