Connecticut Public Act 11-52

2011 | Fair Pay, Leave, Paid Sick Leave

Provides for the accrual of one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked by "service workers" in specified occupations whose employers employ more than 50 individuals in the state of Connecticut.

Connecticut law requires employers of more than 50 employees to provide paid sick leave to service workers in specified occupations accrued at a rate of one hour per every 40 hours worked. The qualified employee may accrue up to 40 hours per year which can carry over into the following year if unused. Paid sick leave may be used by qualified service workers for their own, their spouse’s, or their child’s illness, injury, or health condition, or if they themselves have been a victim of “family violence or sexual assault.”
