Provides individuals with immunity from tortious claims (including but not limited to defamation claims), if the claim is based on statements regarding public concern, made at a hearing or otherwise communicated to a government agency, or made by an employee against an employer in a context where retaliation is prohibited. However, it is unclear whether discovery or other proceedings will continue once the individual files a motion to dismiss. A court may decide to award an individual attorneys’ fees and costs if they win their motion.
