| SB 590 expands eligibility to receive Paid Family Leave benefits (partial wage replacement) by adding “designated person” to the list of qualifying individuals a worker can receive Paid Family Leave benefits for. This creates a more equitable Paid Family Leave program – particularly for older adult, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ workers paid low wages.
